- Hmm, dragging my original A1000 manual out, it says on reference page

- Parallel Connector

- WARNING: Pin 23 on the Amiga parallel connector supplies +5 volts of
- power. Connect this pin ONLY if the power from it is required by the
- external device. NEVER connect this pin to an output of an external
- device or to a signal ground.

- Pins 14-22 are for grounding signals. DO NOT conect these poins
- directly to a shield ground. (C) 1985, 1986 Commodore-Amiga, Inc

- When I made my printer cable up in 1985, I just made sure that pin 23
- was not connected, and that I didn't ground the pins 14-22 as above.
